Linkages to Life Program

The African American community is particularly hard-hit by diseases that cause the need for organ transplants. Linkages to Life is an ongoing, church-based program designed to create awareness of the importance of organ, tissue and bone marrow donation, emphasizing the critical need in the black community. Linkages to Life is a program co-sponsored by Roche and The Links, Incorporated, a large and respected African American women’s service organization.

Linkages to Life events, usually held in churches, feature local organ donors, recipients, and transplant medical professionals who share their stories to dispel myths about transplantation. Speakers also encourage attendees to consider becoming organ donors and discuss with their families the decision to donate.

Roche and The Links, Inc. developed a "Can We Talk?" conversation starter guide, which is distributed as part of the Linkages to Life program to help people initiate the critical and often overlooked organ donation conversation. The Guide can be downloaded by clicking here. A Linkages to Life brochure can also be downloaded by clicking here.

Visit www.linksinc.org to learn more about the program and the urgent need for increased rates of organ donation in the African American community.
